Patton(Duke) was a retired US ARMY Caisson Platoon Horse who worked pulling the caisson(holds the casket) and as a training horses for new soldiers.
He was stationed at Ft. Myer, VA Army Base and worked at Arlington National Cemetery for 14 years.
He developed arthritis in his knees along with having an enlarged knee that they were treated and drained. After careful examination, the US Army veterinarian declared him off-duty and retired him to a home to be a pasture pet.
Patton enjoyed his double stall, his hay bag that swang, his horse friends, and his freedom to 9 acres of property.
Right up until 27, he had the heart and energy of a 4-year-old.
He is now the mascot of Heaven on Earth OTTB Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation
